Just my thoughts, the fact that we have one iPad port to work with and instrument connectivity is important. It’s worth taking a moment to understand what “MIDI” is. I know the argument is that the iPad headphone out is lacking but with the apogee one A/D I have been quite satisfied and have the benefit of Logic to deal with any issues. Just my thoughts but these over usb apps, and I know they are new and improvements will surely follow, but just a simple cable as I mentioned give much greater versatility and options. Using lightning to usb blocks the use of keyboard and guitars and one must resort to the application keyboard for synths or other key played apps with no provision for guitar or bass. I have always been satisfied with the result as I can control input gain into logic with the iPad volume and have the benefit of apogee one's A/d conversion and preamps. This frees up the lightning port for external keyboard or guitar input to the iPad. I have been using a cable from headphone out stereo to mono in on the apogee one instrument preamp. There seems to be limitations, as always with new technologies and now a few are coming forth with audio over usb. I'm not sure whether my dream setup above is possible, but if someone has ideas, feel free to comment. It works quite well, the only downside is that the input quality of the JamPlug isn't as good as the Focusrite's input. Then I only need to route the iPad's output through Audiomux into the MacBook's GarageBand track. What I found to work is that I can use a second audio interface on the iPad (JamPlug connected to the iPad's headphone socket), and plug my guitar in there. routing only the one input from the iTrack Solo to the iPad, everything else goes to the iTrack Solo as is.

I can record the JamUp Pro output in a track in GarageBand on the MacBook. The output of JamUp Pro is routed back to the MacBook using Audiobus and Audiomux. The guitar input is routed to the iPad using Audiomux, into JamUp Pro (through Audiobus).Studio monitors connected to the iTrack Solo for listening.Audio Interface: Focusrite iTrack Solo, which I can use with either the iPad or the MacBook, but not at the same time.iPad 4 running Audiobus, JamUp Pro, DM1 and lots of other iOS apps. Here's another question: My current setup looks like this: Some companies block access to DropBox, an officially hosted version (on the domain) would be nice.

I'll post some further questions in a separate post in this thread.īTW: A more "official" (for lack of a better word) download location for the server would be nice - not DropBox.

Not sure whether this is the right place to raise these issues, but maybe someone else will run into the same issues and find these hints here.Īfter fixing the two issues above, it worked fine. I had to reboot the MacBook, after that it worked fine. I followed the instructions (using Audiobus, Figure, and GarageBand on the MacBook), but it didn't work. When I started Audiomux on the iPad, it immediately connected to the MacBook, but I couldn't get any sound from it.After fixing the permissions, the app started. I checked the permissions, and true, it had localadmin:wheel instead of root:wheel - that must have happened during the installation. When I ran the "audiomux" executable (in the package contents) from command line, it told me that the /Library/LaunchAgenst/audiomux file had the wrong permissions. Unfortunately the notification area icon did not appear, not even after starting the app again.
